Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 28, 2026

The short version. We collect only what we need to run bookings. We never sell your information. Providers choose whether they appear in the public directory, and phone numbers, emails and social handles are never shown there. You can ask to see, correct or delete your information any time.

Bookmi is operated from Brandon, Manitoba, Canada. This policy explains how we handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Manitoba law.

1. What we collect

  • Providers: name, email, password (stored securely, never in plain text), business name, category, city, bio, phone, optional Instagram, services, prices, photos, availability, and subscription status.
  • Customers: name, email, phone and any note you add when you request a booking, plus the service and time you chose.
  • Technical data: basic logs and cookies needed to keep you signed in and keep the service secure.

2. Why we use it

  • To create booking pages, show availability, and process booking requests.
  • To email booking confirmations, updates and receipts to the Provider and the Customer.
  • To run the public directory for Providers who have chosen to be listed.
  • To manage subscriptions, prevent misuse and keep Bookmi secure.

3. Consent and the public directory

Appearing in the directory is optional. When a Provider ticks "Show me in the Bookmi directory", they consent to us publicly showing their business name, category, city, bio, service names, starting prices and photos. We record the date of that consent. Providers can untick the box at any time to be removed from the directory. Unlisted pages remain available to anyone who has the Provider's direct link.

4. What stays private

A Provider's phone number, email and Instagram are not shown on public pages or in the directory. They are shared with a Customer only after the booking is confirmed. A Customer's details are shared only with the Provider they booked with.

5. Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information or use it for third-party advertising. We use trusted service providers to host the app, store files and send email, and they may process information on our behalf only to provide those services. Some of these providers may store data outside Canada, where it may be subject to the laws of that country. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

6. How long we keep it

We keep information while an account is active and as long as needed for bookings, receipts and legal obligations. When an account is deleted we remove or anonymize personal information, except what we must keep by law.

7. Security

We use reasonable safeguards such as encrypted connections and hashed passwords. No online service can promise perfect security, so please use a strong, unique password.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Ask to see the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct it, or to delete it.
  • Withdraw consent, including removing your listing from the directory in your dashboard.
  • Make a complaint to us, or to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

9. Photos and personal details

Please do not upload photos showing other people's faces without their permission, or photos showing phone numbers, handles or other personal details. We may remove photos that do.

10. Children

Bookmi is meant for adults. If you book for a child, please do so as their parent or guardian.

11. Changes

We may update this policy and will post the new date at the top of this page.
